Welcome to Psychsoc
D.U. Psychological Society was founded back in 1968 and has had a colourful history in the intervening years. The society has been host to some illustrious speakers from universities like Stanford, Oxford and Cambridge. B.F. Skinner, the eminent behaviourist gave a talk in the PsychSoc’s founding year. However, the PsychSoc has always been about having fun as much as promoting the discipline of psychology. Events from the past have included demonstrations of hypnotism, talks on “moving statues” and in 1992 a talk given by a Buddhist monk. Other notable speakers have been Patricia Redlich, Michael Argyle, Alan Baddely and the existential psychiatrist R.D. Laing.
Today the number of members on the books of the D.U. Psychsoc is at its highest since the society was founded all of 40 years ago. While we continue to promote the discipline of Psychology here in Trinity we are also committed to providing a social outlet for our members as well as helping members to further their own interests within the field of Psychology and beyond.
